Arscot tames the conditions to take victory in latest round
Brian Arscot tamed some terrible conditions in the sixth round of the Essex Golf and Country Club senior’s Winter League.
On a very cold, very wet and very windy day, 26 intrepid seniors battled their way round 18 holes to complete the sixth of eight rounds of the Winter League.
In second and beaten only on countback with an excellent 36 points, was 18-handicapper Trevor Jones, but the winner, also with a brilliant 36 points, was 20-handicapper Arscot.
Third place, with a very creditable 34 stableford points, went to 25-handicapper Jeff Robinson.
Nearest the pin on the 135-yard fifth hole was last year’s seniors captain Rob Chisholm.
