Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman pleased to see his team get back to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Needham Market Reserves in Thurlow Nunn League division one.

Halstead ended a six-game run without a win and took a valuable three points with goals from Jonah Gosling, Nick Miller and Dave Morgan.

And Benterman was delighted with his team’s performance, however, he also paid tribute to their opponents.

He said: “Today was never going to be a easy game with weather conditions making the pitch very heavy under foot but you have to make sure you turn up and get the job done and collect points.

“Full credit to Needham, who I personally could watch all weekend with their philosophy of total football and credit to their manager and coaching staff.

“What a incredible start, scoring within 45 seconds without the opposition touching the ball and having 15 to 25 passes to score was great to see.

“Anyone at the game will know this could have gone either way and with Needham feeling the way into the game and growing in confidence, it wasn’t until 43rd minute that we got a second goal to go in at half-time two up.

“It was a game that both sides were looking for that little bit extra but it just didn’t come.

“Needham didn't deserve a 3-1 scoreline but I felt we did deserve the three points overall.”
