Halstead Road Runners slipped in the Harwich mud to third place in Pool B of the 53-12 Cross Country League series.
The third round was hosted by Harwich Runners and once again proved a popular race in the series with its muddy, wet and sticky conditions giving a real test of endurance.
Halstead fielded strong male and female teams and scored well, with Bradley Doe, Stewart Ellis, Nathan Roulson and Don English scoring for the men’s team, while Kathryn Bronson and Hazel Buist scored for the ladies.
However it wasn’t enough to stop them slipping to third in the Pool B standings.
There are three races to go following the postponement of Hylands Park and Halstead will be looking to move up the table.
STANDINGS: Pool B: 1 Hadleigh Hares 17pts, 2 53-12 14pts, 3 Halstead Road Runners 13pts, 4 Tiptree Road Runners 7pts, 5 Mid Essex Casuals 6pts, 6 Colchester and Tendring 3pts.
