Trevor Jarman and Penny Lang performed the traditional drive-in ceremonies to start their year in office as the captains of Colne Valley Golf Club.
The event was very well attended with both captains achieving good drives and was followed by the annual Captains versus Vice-Captains match and then the captains’ welcome lunch.
The match went the way of the vice-captains’ team, who won by a margin of 36-11, so there were many commiserations afterwards at the lunch when a sum of £306 was raised for this year’s captains’ charity.
The chosen charity this year is Canine Partners.
There was also a men’s stableford competition, which resulted in a win for Steve Potter with 34 points, from Matt Holbrook with 31 points and Roger Holmes in third with 24.
