Oliver Swallow and Honor Rendall were the pick of the young athletes competing in a strong field at the Great Notley Country Park Autumn Duathlon in Braintree.
Since being selected last year to the Triathlon England Affiliate Talent Squad, 16-year-old Swallow, who is from Halstead, has enjoyed a period of continual personal best (PB) times and this race was no exception.
Once again his performance saw him achieve a duathlon PB as he improved his previous best by one minute 27 seconds.
And Rendall, who is also 16 and is a sixth-form student at Hedingham School, was also in good form as she matched Swallow’s male age group win with victory in the under-20s female category.
