Halstead Cricket Club are still dreaming of a home appearance on finals day in the Piri Piri North Essex League Knockout Cup.
The club’s Sunday side set up a semi-final showdown with Little Bardfield Village with an eight-wicket win against West Mersea and with the final taking place at Star Stile again this year, Halstead would love to win the silverware on home turf.
Sunday side skipper Josh Wells said: “We are looking at it as quite an important competition for the club as the final has been at Halstead for the last few years and we haven’t been in it.
“We have a chance to set that right this year, though, and it would be nice if we could win it on our own ground.
“The Sunday games are also important to the club’s development as they allow us to bring through some young players."
