Jordan Palmer has his sights set on the Thurlow Nunn League division one’s Golden Boot this year, but collective Halstead Town success is far more important than any individual accolades for the Town striker.
A hat-trick in Tuesday’s 5-0 win against Needham Market Reserves not only helped lift Halstead back up to third in the league ahead of tomorrow’s trip to fourth-placed Swaffham, but took Palmer’s season’s goal tally to 21 from 29 division one appearances.
It brought him to within five of the division’s current leading marksman, Ipswich Wanderers’ Remi Garrett, who has 26 goals from five more games than Palmer has played.
But with 15 of his strikes coming in Halstead’s last ten games, the Town man is clearly on a hot streak.
He said: “It’s going really well so hopefully I can push on to get top goal scorer in the league, but it’s going to be hard."
