Two Jordan Palmer goals, one from Lee Hurkett and a defensive shut-out saw Halstead Town overcome the odds and secure another three valuable Thurlow Nunn League division one points with a 3-0 win at Debenham LC.

Halstead had an astonishing ten first-team players out with injury or illness and two who did start were carrying knocks so boss Mark Benterman was understandably delighted with his team’s display.

He said: “I was so proud of the boys.

“To have so many out and have responded like that is a great achievement.

“Credit to everyone from this game.”

Benterman added that Jonny Thorogood was named as their man-of-the-match.

The win was further good news for Halstead, who learned before the game at Debenham that they had been awarded the Thurlow Nunn League’s Fair Play award for January and February.
