Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman is delighted that his team have hit top form at a crucial time.

With 12 games left to play, Halstead’s recent form has put them right back in the running to not only secure promotion this year but possibly claim the Thurlow Nunn League division one title.

They have bounced back from losing three games in a row by taking ten points from their last four games and are now back up to second place in the table.

The latest demonstration of Halstead’s form came with a stunning 5-1 victory against promotion rivals Swaffham Town at Rosemary Lane last weekend and Benterman is looking for a six-point return from two back-to-back games against near neighbours Braintree Town Reserves this week.

Braintree are due to visit Rosemary Lane tomorrow (kick-off 3pm), with the return fixture at the Amlin Stadium on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

And the Halstead boss feels his team need eight more wins to secure their move up to step five of the non-league footballing pyramid.

“We’ve hit form at the right time,” said Benterman.

“We’ve taken ten points from 12 and you ask for a much better response to losing those three games than that."
