ESSEX’S assistant coach Matt Walker has left the club to move to rivals Kent.

Walker, 40, will return to his home county as assistant coach after four years in Essex.

The move means Essex Second XI coach Chris Silverwood has been promoted to assistant head coach.

Walker moved to Chelmsford as a player in 2009 and was appointed number two to head coach Paul Grayson in 2011.
