Halstead are ready to face the physical tests
Halstead Town are now ready to step up to the more physical tests that they will face in Thurlow Nunn League division one.
The Rosemary Lane team head into tomorrow’s home game against March Town United (kick-off 3pm) sitting second in the table.
They were overtaken at the top in midweek by Whitton United, but had been at the summit after their 1-0 win against Fakenham Town.
It was a tough test against a robust opponent, but the way that his players came through that and grabbed a late winner highlighted the growing maturity of his players for manager Mark Benterman.
He said: “We had three major players out and that’s what people need to recognise.
“But that shows the strength in depth that we have now.
“When you are down to the bare bones you put people in and sometimes you get a surprise package.
“We had three or four out there against Fakenham and it got us the three points.
“I was over the moon for the boys.
"Last year we struggled with the physical side of things, but this year we’ve said to them that we need to man-up and match these physical sides.
“If we can match them then I know we will get our rewards because we have one of the best sides in the league in terms of ability."
