Young is hungry for more success
MAURICE Young is setting his sights on more medals after being crowned world age group duathlon champion.
The Halstead Road Runner was left feeling on cloud nine after his recent success in Ottawa.
And far from resting on his laurels, the 79-year-old is already targeting more glory at next year’s European and World Duathlon Sprint Championships.
“I’d definitely like to win more medals in the future,” said Young, who won his 75 to 79 years age category by approximately 40 seconds in Canada.
“The more success you have, the more you want and you become even hungrier to keep achieving things.
“I was very pleased to win my first gold medal, having gained a couple of silvers at three European Championships.
“I move into the 80+ category next year and I’ll be hoping for more success at the Europeans, in the spring, and the World Championships, in Spain, in September.”
