Benterman believes his side have the talent and belief to succeed

NEW boss Mark Benterman believes he can make Halstead Town a “force to be reckoned with”.

The club’s former assistant manager, who has swapped jobs with Jim Holder, was appointed last week and already inspired back-to-back wins against Debenham LC and Stowmarket.

Now he has challenged his players to keep their standards high and make a strong finish to the curent campaign.

“I’m looking for consistency, both individually and collectively, and for the players to work hard and show respect,” said Benterman.

“Hopefully we can finish strongly and a top-eight finish, given the changes we’ve made and the players we’ve lost, would be a real achievement.

“After that, we can have a good pre-season and hopefully come back flying.

“With the talent and belief we’ve got, I believe we can do very well next season.

“We want to push on to the next level.

“This is a club with a strong fan-base, a decent ground and a very bright future and I can’t wait to test myself at this high level.”
