Town hope to keep cup dreams alive
1:00pm Friday 8th February 2013 in Halstead Sport By Matt Plummer
HALSTEAD Town have silverware in their sights.
Jim Holder’s side take a break from league action when they visit Newmarket tomorrow, in the quarter-finals of the First Division Knockout Cup.
If they win, they will only be one game from another cup final.
“We’re looking forward to it,” said Holder.
“This is a competition we’re taking seriously and are keen to do well in.
“It’s a great opportunity for our inexperienced players to get some cup football under their belts and we’re only two games from reaching a final.
“That would be a marvellous achievement.
“These boys might be inexperienced but by playing in these games they’re learning all the time.
“It means they won’t be inexperienced by the time we play in these competitions next season, so it’s all part of our progression.”
