Benterman: striker is a class act

HALSTEAD Town assistant boss Mark Benterman has sung the praises of striker Cameron Storrie.

The 16-year-old scored twice in the club’s recent Thurlow Nunn League division one victory against March Town United.

He has an opportunity to pin down a place in Town’s starting line-up, now that fellow goal-getter Reis Farley-Hearn has quit Rosemary Lane.

And Benterman expects him to grab it with both hands.

“As one door closes, another opens and Cameron has a great chance,” said Town’s assistant boss, who works alongside first-team manager and chairman Jim Holder.

“We need to keep his feet on the floor but he’s scored three goals in two starts and is doing very well.

“His work-rate is phenomenal, he knows where the goal is and he’s the kind of player who is constantly biting at defenders’ ankles.

“He never stops running, holds the ball up and runs the channels.”
