Holder wants his players to be switched on from the start
7:00am Friday 11th January 2013 in Halstead Sport By Matt Plummer
HALSTEAD TOWN manager Jim Holder wants his side to be switched on from the start in tomorrow’s division one date at home to March.
The Rosemary Lane side were left feeling a sense of deja vu after shipping early goals in their 3-1 defeat at Ipswich Wanderers, last Saturday.
They were two-down in six minutes and 3-0 behind after just 23.
The concession of early goals has been a theme of recent weeks, costing them vital points in their quest to break into the leading pack at the top of the table.
And Holder wants his players to make sure there are no repeats tomorrow.
“It’s been a recurring theme throughout the season,” he said.
“We made a couple of changes last week, which may have made a difference, but before we knew it we were two-down.
“Both goals came from corners and that’s just down to a lack of concentration.
“We were left with a mountain to climb.
“To be fair, we outbattled them in the second half, creating three or four chances.
“But obviously it makes life very hard when you make such a poor start.
“Those goals changed everything, including the atmosphere among the players.
“The damage was done right at the start and we’ve got to try and make sure there are no repeats tomorrow.”
