IT was first round Knockout Cup action in the Essex Invitation Petanque League and it proved a bad night for the Wethersfield club with all three of their teams teams losing.
Division one Jetts lost 2-1 at division two Bocking Dyers as the home side took the triples and the pairs and Ryan Cook's singles win was only a consolation.
The Hopps, meanwhile, lost 3-0 at home to Broomfield FC's David Bird, Nikki Parrish and Trevor Blows and the Combines also lost 3-0 at home to Little Totham Swan's Simon Walker, Steve Read and Darren Podger.
Elsewhere, Billericay Meadows had a 2-1 win at Blackwater U3A, the Cock had a 3-0 win over division one side Thorley and Bardfield won 3-0 at Toppesfield, who were entering a team in the cup for the first time.
