A NARROW singles win for Ryan Cook saw Wethersfield Jetts to a 2-1 home win over Billericay Lakes in division one of the Essex Invitation Petanque League.
Cook, Terry Williams and Terry Whiting had a13-1 win in the triples and while the Lakes took the pairs, Cook beat Lewis Paul 13-12 in the singles to seal the match.
Broomfield FC visited Blackwater U3A and took all three points on offer.
Trevor Blows, Dave Bird and Nikki Parrish had a 13-1 triples win, before Blows beat Ron Martin 13-6 in the singles and Bird and Parrish beat Ken Hardy and John Guiver took the pairs 13-12.
Both Jetts and Broomfield FC were promoted to division one and have started well climbing to third and fourth in the table.
The Lakes took on club-mates Billericay Meadows and triumphed 2-1, but Meadows got back to winning ways by beating Bocking Poachers 2-1.
Mark Williams gained the point for the Poachers with a 13-11 singles win.
In division two, early league leaders Wethersfield Hopps and Wethersfield Combines both had an off night, losing 3-0 to Bocking Dyers and The Swan respectively.
Malcolm Smith was playing again for the Dyers, who went second in the table.
Bardfield B stayed top after a 2-1 win at Three Elms Q, while the Cock had a 3-0 over Bardfield Queens to move into third place.
