LONG-TIME doubles partners Trevor Barnett and Stephen Allen will represent Playgolf Colchester at the regional Daily Mail foursomes competition qualifiers.

They carded an unassailable nett score of 65.5 in the club's qualifiers, in great course conditions.

The consistent pair scored steadily throughout and kept their cool, knowing they had a competitive score in hand with the finishing post in sight.

Benjamin Garner and Wayne Woods were runners-up with a nett score of 67 while Adie Binns and Roger Giles were third (nett 69).

A record field of players turned out for the Playgolf Seniors' greenkeepers competition.

They came to show appreciation for the greenkeepers' hard work over the year, keeping the course in such fine condition.

With nearest the pin, longest drive and straightest drive prizes up for grabs and five very challenging double-points pirate black flags on offer, the fun-format competition was keenly contested.

Des McCarron (25) was first on countback, with the leaders tied on an outstanding 47 points.

In-form seniors vice-captain Steve Dale (26) was runner-up.

A superior back nine helped Stephen Ashbee (27) finish third place on countback, with 46 points.

He pushed out seniors captain Michael Johnson (23), who narrowly missed out.

Peter Saye claimed the longest drive prize, with Steve Loran taking the straightest drive.

Nearest-the pins were taken by Bob Price (third hole) and Alan Barrett (14th hole).
