Jamie Moul says he will be striving to achieve more consistency in his game next season after finishing the Jamega Pro Golf Tour campaign on a high.

The Stoke by Nayland professional finished as a runner-up at the Old Fold Manor Championship, following a lengthy play-off with Jamie Abbott.

Moul won the fourth Order of Merit on the Tour, after finishing second in the final tournament on four-under-par.

And after what he has described as a frustrating few months, ending the season with an impressive performance has come as a boost for the Colchester golfer.

Moul told the Daily Gazette: “I played well - the different aspects of my game didn’t really click together at the same time for most of the season, so it was nice to get one in at the end.

“I’ve not been able to tie everything together this year, which has been frustrating.

“I knew I was doing the right things and it was about persevering with it.

“My game still feels good and I know that when it’s all in place, it’s competitive.

“It’s about putting everything together at the right time.

“Finishing well is a nice feeling, going into the winter months.

“It was frustrating not to win at Old Fold Manor in the end but the guy (Abbott) who beat me has won seven times this year and he had the knack to win it.

“It was good to put myself in a position knowing that I was pretty close coming up to the last few.

“It would have been nice to have won it but it wasn’t to be.”

A big highlight for Moul at Old Fold Manor was the hole in one he secured on the par-three 14th hole, which pocketed him £100.

It also secured the 33-year-old a spot on the Algarve Pro Tour which runs from November to March, although the former world number one-ranked amateur says he is unlikely to be in action in Portugal over the coming months.

“It was nice to get the hole in one and it always helps the scorecard,” said Moul, who turned professional after the 2007 Walker Cup.

“It was my fifth hole in one and my third competitive one.

“But I’m not planning to play in it at the moment, just purely on a financial basis.

“It’s good competitive golf and the way they run it is very good, with two or three day tournaments within a seven or eight day period.

“Next season, it’ll be about focusing on the Jamega Tour and possibly the EuroPro Tour, depending on what I decide to do at the start of the year.

“But that’s the first part of the year and then it’ll hopefully be Tour School, halfway through the season, depending on form and finances.”

The experienced Moul is available for guidance and coaching sessions at Stoke by Nayland GC.

The former European Tour professional is on hand to provide advice to golfers of all abilities along with short game specific coaching and on-course tuition, with all aspects of the game covered.

He added: “I’ve been attached to Stoke by Nayland for the last 20 years and they’ve been great for me.

“I know everyone there and it’s been good getting that coaching started, along with playing.”
