EX-Colchester United player and coach Adrian Webster lived the American dream when he was awarded the Golden Scarf at old club, Seattle Sounders.

Webster, who played for the Sounders between 1974 and 1979 and captained them in the Soccer Bowl, made his first return to the city in 26 years, was presented with the scarf at the club’s recent game against Minnesota to mark his contribution to soccer on and off the pitch in Washington.

The former Monkwick School pupil, who has produced two books on his time playing in the States - ‘Eternal Blue Forever Green’ and ‘40th Anniversary Soccer Bowl 77’ - said it was great to be back in Seattle.

He said: “While there I caught up with old team-mates, friends and fans and was given a tour of their incredible facilities. The hospitality was tremendous, it made it a memorable visit.”

Webster is currently working on a third book which will cover his return to Seattle. His first two books can be purchased online via Amazon, with all proceeds going to the Kids with Cancer UK charity.
