Colchester United loanee Kyel Reid could see a specialist to determine the full extent of his groin injury.
The 29-year-old, who is on loan from Coventry City, missed the U's 3-1 win over Crawley Town last weekend because of the injury and is unlikely to feature when John McGreal's side host Chesterfield tonight, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Reid, who has made four appearances for Colchester since joining them on loan last month and scored in their 5-1 win over Forest Green Rovers, returned to parent club Coventry last week for assessment on the injury.
Writing in his column in the U's matchday programme, U's head coach Tony Flynn said: "Our advice was that he should possibly see a specialist to ascertain the exact damage and as he is only on loan, we contacted Coventry to let them know.
"He went back up there to see their medical staff and he may well see a specialist up there as well.
"Hopefully, it isn't too serious and he'll be back in action sooner rather than later."
