A STRONG finish from Horse and Groom saw them claim singles and match honours at home against Wethersfield Club in the Braintree Open Darts League.

The hosts took the pairs 3-0, before Wethersfield Club hit back in the triples, but Jake Newlove's win in the opening singles increased the Groom's lead.

Kevin Taylor and Steve Sheldrake claimed the next two as Wethersfield squared the match and Billy Knight-Wood edged the visitors ahead but the Groom took the final two games for singles and match points.

Eagle B found themselves with an uphill task after losing the pairs 3-0 and the triples against Swiss Bell and things didn't get any better for the home team in the singles, with the Swiss winning six of the seven games

Notley Sports travelled to Wethersfield Raiders and, with a 3-0 win in the pairs and a win in the triples, were in overall command.

Ernie Holden's opening singles win gave the Raiders some hope but Notley wrapped things up by winning five of the remaining games.

Welsh Princess played at home against Eagle A and found their visitors on top of their form as a 3-0 in the pairs, a win in the triples and taking six of the singles saw things go the Eagle's way.

Following a 2-1 loss in the pairs, a draw in the triples and an opening singles win for Colin Barnard, Bocking Club were level in the overall match against visiting Cressing A.

Mick Cain and Bryan Willis's wins in the next two gave Cressing the advantage, though, and while Sam Hayden's win in the fourth reduced the deficit, wins for Tony Bamsey and Martin Compton gave Cressing the match and singles wins.

Braintree Football Club's trip to Cressing B saw them open with a 2-1 win in the pairs, however, the hosts came back with a win in the triples and an opening singles win.

Alan Dewar, Steve Prow and Hayden Acott took the next three to put the Football Club ahead, before Rob Turner's 2-0 win bought Cressing back into the reckoning but Lynn Kelly and Matt Baker completed singles and match honours for the Football Club.

Tony Bamsey and Martin Compton hit 180s, while high out shots were recorded by Matt Last 130, Graham Chinnery 120, Paul Baker 119, Kevin Taylor 114, Rob Turner 106, Taylor Barnard 104 and Jack Whitmore 102.
