Former Colchester United loanee Tariqe Fosu has signed for League One side Charlton Athletic after leaving Reading.

Fosu has signed a two-year deal with the Addicks for an undisclosed fee, having been offered a deal with the Royals.

Fosu had hinted at the end of last season that he would be open to the prospect of returning to Colchester.

The 21-year-old revealed he has already spoken to the U’s about the prospect of coming back to the Weston Homes Community Stadium, prior to holding talks with the promotion-chasing Royals about his future.

Fosu enjoyed an impressive finale to his loan spell at the U’s and finished the campaign with three goals in his final two games.

He scoreed five goals in 33 league appearances for Colchester, during his eight-month stint at the club.
