DESPITE mechanical trouble, there was a top-ten finish for Braintree's Cable Racing team at the second round of the British sidecar Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire
Driver Kevin Cable and passenger Guy Pawsey, who is from Witham, qualified 13th on a track that had been made difficult by rain and set off well for the 12-lap race.
However, as the race developed, their Yamaha powered machine began having gear box problems.
The pair pulled into the pits but decided to continue the race and pushed on to take ninth place at the chequered flag.
Cable said “The gearbox problem just got worse lap after lap.
"When we pulled in I saw how many had retired and where we were in the race so I decided to continue.
"I’m glad we did.
"To finish in the top ten is great.”
Pawsey added “It was really hard work but we’ve got the determination to keep going and it paid off with a good result.”
The result left the duo them in tenth in the championship, with the next round at Knockhill in Scotland next month.
