HAVING had a two-week break, Witham Town will return to Ryman League division north action looking to finish their season with some consistent performances.

Witham were without a game last weekend and are due to return by hosting Tilbury at the Village Glass Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

They will head into the game feeling confident as well as well rested after a run of three wins and a draw in their previous four outings.

However, that run followed a six-game sequence without a win and manager Adam Flint is looking for greater consistency from his players as their division north campaign draws to a close.

He said: "I think we have started to believe in ourselves again and our confidence has come back.

"We have to be one of the form sides in the division at the moment.

"But I don't know why we have had blocks of good and bad results this season - I don't think there's a definite answer to that.

"Maybe when it starts to go bad we need to be a bit quicker to put our arm around the players and lift them, but it's hard because they are a young group and they are still learning.

" We need to have the consistency at the end of this year and into next year, though.

"We seem to have had spells where we've gone seven unbeaten and then had ten where it's all been ifs and buts.

"We've had a lot of draws and we need to have converted some of them into wins, but I don't think we're that far off."

Flint, meanwhile, is beginning to turn some of his attentions to planning for next season, but he admits the way his team has played this year will have alerted rival clubs to the quality of his young players.

He feels some will be approached about moves away from Witham, so is working hard to hold on to his prize assets.

"The hard thing this summer is going to be keeping hold of players," he added.

"I'm hoping that they will stay and I've had a few chats with some of the boys."
