THE team match between the Kelvedon and Braintree clubs on Seabrooks Reservoir at Great Leighs was a fairly even contest in the top places, but better results in the backing weights gave team honours to the home side with a 91½-73½ points win.

Kelvedon had Jim Loosley to thank for their win, as he fished for them on the day and gained them maximum points by winning the match individually with a nice silver fish net weighing 17-3-0, mainly taken on caster.

Close behind for the Braintree team was Billy Walker, with an all silver fish net of 16-4-0.

Third was Kelvedon's Bob Reed, who included a carp with his silvers for a 10-2-0 total.

Sections (excluding top two): 1 C Orrin (BBAS) 9-6-0, 2 P Turner (KDAA) 8-4-0.

The Braintree Club's Friday match at Notley was won by John Daniels, who landed two carp and five F1s on pellet to weigh 19-9-0.

Walker had a carp on the waggler near the end of the match to boost him into second place with 17-13-0.

Sunday's club match is at Notley with a 9am draw.

The Braintree Club members have been saddened to hear that the club's president Pat Forrester has passed away.

Pat had been involved with the Club over many years and had filled most of the official posts and had remained very active as he reached the age of 93.

He was well known to members past and present and devoted a lot of time and effort to the club.

He helped to maintain a continuity to the club through the difficult times and it is possibly thanks to Pat that the club has survived over 100 years.

On top of all that, he was not too bad at catching fish either and his name is on most of the club trophies.

In the same week it also transpired that Terry Tuffnell, who was the club secretary in the 1970s before moving to Norfolk, had also passed away.

The committee extended their sympathy to the families of both deceased at this sad time.
