Matt Briggs will continue his injury comeback by playing for Colchester United under-23s in their Premier League Cup group game against Manchester City, tomorrow night.
The left-back has been building up his fitness by playing for Wayne Brown’s development side over recent weeks, having been sidelined for a number of months after undergoing hip surgery, last August.
Briggs will feature for the U's under-23s against Manchester City, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
Colchester under-23 manager Wayne Brown said: “Matt played 60 minutes against Watford on Monday, having played 45 minutes against Ipswich Town last Monday and a full 90 minutes against East Thurrock United in the Essex Senior Cup, the week before.
“He’ll play again on Thursday (against Manchester City under-23s) and that’s great preparation for him.
“Touch wood, he’s had no reactions and he’s done really well.
“Everyone knows that the kid is an athlete and it’s just a matter of time until he gets up to full fitness.”
Briggs has not featured for Colchester’s first team since playing in their final game of last season against Rochdale.
