Hakan Hayrettin says tonight's Essex Senior Cup tie at Chelmsford City will be a chance to impress for some members of his Braintree Town squad who have not been at the centre of his plans in recent weeks.

The Iron head to face their old foes in the quarter-finals of the county cup tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).

A spot in the last four is at stake, but Braintree manager Hayrettin said he wouldn't be fielding a full-strength line-up after their 5-2 win at East Thurrock United in the FA Trophy second round on Saturday.

Hayrettin is likely to use younger players, members of his squad coming back to fitness after injury and those who have been on the fringes of his first-team.

However, he said it is an opportunity for those playing to show him what they can do as he makes plans ahead of the team's trip to Forest Green Rovers in the Vanarama National League on Saturday.

He said: “It won’t be too many of the players who were there (at East Thurrock) on Saturday.

“It will be people like Jon Ashton and Danny Rumens getting a game and Craig Braham-Barrett has come back from injury so we’ll have a look at him as well.

“Barney Williams and Amos Kabeya; people like those and there are a few others who I’ll be having a look at."
