WIVENHOE figure skating siblings Elliot and Edward Appleby struck gold for Great Britain and the National Ice Skating Association at the International Skating Union Open d'Andorra.

The brothers travelled to Andorra to represent their national federation and country, in the Novice B Men's and Advanced Novice Men's events.

Elliot, 13 and his 11-year-old brother Edward, placed first in their respective events.

Edward also achieved new personal best scores in the short and free programmes, placing ahead of skaters from France, Spain and Andorra.

The duo were supported in Andorra by their coaches John Wicker and Jane Faux, who are their ice professionals at the rink.

The siblings' success follows hot on the heels of their performance at the recent national open Level 7 Men's event, in Sheffield.

Edward, who achieved a new personal best score and Elliot placed first and second.

Both Edward and Elliot have qualified to compete at next month's British Figure Skating Championships, the highlight of the UK Figure Skating calendar.
