BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent boss James Webster believes his side have “every chance” of causing an FA Trophy upset at Harlow Town tonight.

The sides will meet in a second qualifying round replay, after drawing 1-1 at North Road last Tuesday.

The winners already know they face a trip to Havant and Waterlooville, on Saturday.

And despite starting as underdogs against Ryman League premier division side Harlow, Webster is backing his boys to ruffle the Hawks’ feathers.

“We’ve really competed with them and there’s been nothing to split the sides over 140 minutes (taking into account the 50 minutes that were played before the initial match was abandoned, due to a floodlight failure),” said the Regent boss.

“There wasn’t a great deal of football played last week – it was a bit scrappy – but we looked dangerous from set-pieces.

“It was a bit of a war of attrition and a mistake could have swung it either way.

“Harlow were getting on top at the end and so credit to my boys for digging in.

“I was so pleased that we competed like we did, especially after the setback of going behind.

“We showed good character to consolidate, get back in the game and control large parts of the first half.

“If we can show a bit more quality in the final third, we’ll create chances.

“We’ve got every chance and we’ll go there feeling as confident as we were last week, looking to cause an upset.”

Webster believes his side will relish the challenge of playing on Harlow’s 3G pitch.

His players regularly train on a similar surface and he does not expect it to be too much of an advantage for the hosts.

“The boys will really look forward to playing on the 3G pitch,” said the Regent boss, whose side won 1-0 at Thurrock in Ryman League division north on Saturday.

“All of our best results this season have come on nice pitches, when we’ve been able to get the ball down and play.

“A lot of goals have come when we’ve been moving the ball around nicely.

“I’m looking forward to it and enjoy going there.

“I want us to be in the Ryman Premier.

“That’s my ambition and where I want to take this club.

“We were unlucky to lose to Billericay in the FA Cup and won 6-2 at Met Police, in the last round of the Trophy. We’ve proven we can go head-to-head with these sides.”
