A TOTAL of 24 pairs braved storm Angus to challenge for the second round of Colne Valley Golf Club's Winter League.

This round was a combined stableford and saw the pair of John Poulson and Stuart Hurst winning with an impressive total of 74 points.

Martin Rackley and Gary Beck were second with 72 points, closely followed by Stuart Collingridge and Brian Amos with 71.

Saturday’s stableford was won by Peter Thomas with 30 points, pipping Peter Goodwin on 26.

Angie Waite and Dianne Jeggo were winners with 21 points as new lady captain Lesley Knight held her own drive-in followed by nine holes of betterball.

Ruth Finch guessed the length of Knight’s drive.

The same day also saw 42 players battling it out in the seniors' monthly stableford.

Mick Coe and Malcolm Waite both finished on 38 points with Coe taking the honours on countback, while Eric Keable snuck into third spot after both he and Ken Foster finished with 37 points.
