PERFECT autumnal conditions greeted a superb field of golfers at Colne Valley Golf Club for the annual Captains' Drive-in.
As last year’s captains, Sue Gilbert and Jerry Callow, stepped aside after a sterling year, the reins were handed to Lesley Knight and Gary Beck respectively.
Following the drive-in two teams - Captain's vs Vice-Captain's - battled it out in a matchplay format with Beck’s captain's team being the eventual winners of the trophy.
Lots of spot prizes were on offer during the day with Jean Adams, Sue Petchey and Corinne Burnford winning the ladies' nearest the pin while the men’s honours went to Roger Warren, Roger Cook and Phillip Reeves.
There were also prizes for Roger Cook and Alessandra Callow for the biggest win over their opponents and Norris Silk was the closest to guessing the length of Beck’s drive.
The day was enjoyed by all members new and old and a total of £839 was raised for the Essex Air Ambulance.
Earlier on in the week, Dianne Jeggo took the spoils in the ladies' stableford, as her 34 points was good enough to see off Marion Gaunt's effort of 32.
