THERE was no winning start for Swiss Bell as they began their Braintree Open Darts League winter campaign against Wethersfield Raiders.

After losing the pairs 2-1 and drawing the triples, Swiss saw singles successes for Ann Farmer, Tony Holland and Rob Farmer, but Wethersfield won three games before Andi Thomas wrapped up singles and match points for them.

The Retreat lost the pairs 2-1 to Cressing B but came back to win the triples and sewed up the singles points by winning the opening four games for overall match honours as well.

The Eagle's A and B teams played each other and with the B side winning the pairs 3-0 and earning a draw in the triples were favourites going into the singles.

Wins for Andy Smith, Alex Chandler, ndy Cook and Alan Abbott secured the match points for the B team but Eagle A had Terry Corder and Kevin Byrne winning their games.

Notley Sports hosted Horse and Groom and opened with a 3-0 win in the pairs followed by a win in the triples.

Although Jez Henderson pulled a game back for the Groom in the opening singles, Nev Walker and Graham Chinnery won to put the match points in the bag for Notley, who went on to also wrap up the singles victory.

Cressing A beat Legends 3-0 in the pairs, in the triples and in the opening three singles to secure the match points.

With the singles still to be decided, Stuart Wickes and Chris Holden won to put Legends back in the frame but Mick Cain claimed a 2-0 victory in the sixth as Cressing had the singles victory as well.

Braintree Football Club's match against visiting Bocking Club saw the hosts win the pairs 2-1 before a draw in the triples. Alan Dewars and Hayden Acott increased the Football Club's match advantage in the singles and Colin Barnard's win was Bocking's last success of the night as the home side took the final three games.

Mick Cain and Tony Bamsey both hit 180s and high out shots were recorded by Aaron Holden with a 103, Steve O'Neil 107, Tash Whitfield 111, Andy Cook with 116 and a 129, Tony Tatum 122 and Simon Twin with a 160.
