MEMBERS from the Braintree and District Athletic Club have presented volunteers from the Friends of the Flitch Way with a cheque for £1,400 at the Booking Hall Café in Rayne.
The money was raised from profits made from the Braintree 5 Road Race held in April.
A total of £2,800 was raised with the remaining donation made to a local cancer charity.
Braintree 5 Committee member Stuart Phillips said: “We wanted to say a very big thank you to all of the volunteers from the Friends of Flitch Way from the entire local running community and beyond who use this space week in week out for the fantastic work they do which often goes unnoticed.
"We realise how lucky we are to have such a wonderful space to train in each week and hope the donation from the road race will assist the group in their work.”
Chairman of the Friends of the Flitch Way Alan Trigg expressed his thanks and said the donation would go toward provision of essential equipment and materials to help maintain the Flitch Way.
