COEN Wiekamp claimed the Division One and Two Singles title for the second successive year, at Colchester and District Darts League's final night.

Wiekamp secured a 3-1 win over pairs partner A Howard to lift the trophy again at the well-attended finals, staged at Greenstead Social Club.

The Grapes team of C Wiekamp, L Woods, A Howard and D Bokenham kicked off the evening by running out 2-0 winners over Rovers, in the Fours Final.

In the Singles semi-finals for division three and four teams, M Stevens (Spinnaker A) lost 2-0 against a strong M Hancocks (Chequers), who hit the only 180 on the evening.

Hancocks also hit a total of seven 180s, during the course of the season.

The second semi-final saw D Hyde (The Ale House) just miss out on a place in the final after losing 2-1 against J Kelly (Horse and Groom).

In the division one and two semi-finals, A Howard (Grapes) overcame A Genery (Bergholt SC) 3-0 to book a final place against either C Wiekamp (Grapes) or Steve Ellis (Greenstead A).

At 1-1 the match could have gone either way, with both players missing the double with many darts.

C Wiekamp took the leg and then went onto make the final for the second year running with a 3-1 scoreline.

P McDermott (New Town) became the first winner of the new Captains Cup, after beating P Copeland (Grapes), 2-0.

The division one and two Pairs Final was an all-Grapes affair with C Wiekamp and A Howard pairing up to win the title against team-mates L Woods and P Gibbins, after winning 3-0.

In the Ladies Singles, Stacey Ellis and L Bloomfield of Greenstead A battled it out in a great match.

Ellis bust a 132 finish which did not put her off as she overcame her team-mate 2-0 to take the title for the fourth time in five years.

In the division three and four Singles, Horse and Groom's J Kelly took on the in-form M Hancocks (Chequers).

Hancocks won 2-0 in a match that showed the standard of darts in the lower leagues is on the up.

The league's AGM for next season will be held on Monday August 8, at Greenstead Social Club.
