COLCHESTER Town lifted the Eastern Region League Cup following a 4-0 triumph over Silver End.

A goal just before half-time was the key to Town's success at the Hertfordshire FC headquarters in Letchworth Garden City.

The best moment of a low-key first half came just before the interval and was created by Georgia Box.

Her good work on the left allowed her to cross for Alex Brewis-Shephard to head in off the inside of a post.

Town went in at the interval ahead and completely dominated the second half.

They doubled their lead three minutes after the break when Brewis-Shephard's pass allowed Box to slip her shot past the keeper.

Town could have scored a third almost immediately afterwards as Box combined well with Wakefield to send Kira Fitzpatrick clear but she drove her shot wide.

Wakefield then created a chance for herself as she switched the ball onto her right foot but was denied by a very good low save from the Silver End keeper.

Silver End sent a half volley just wide before Town added a well-created third goal on the hour mark.

Brewis-Shephard and Lucy Jones linked on the left and although the keeper saved Box's shot very well, Wakefield was on hand to nod the ball into the net.

The match looked over as a contest and that definitely was the case midway through the second half when Lucy Jones' curling corner ended up in the net.

Stacey Roper's lob sailed over the keeper but dropped just wide after she had been played in by Kira Fitzpatrick, as Town wrapped up victory.

Officials named Wakefield as player of the match.
