PLAYGOLF Colchester enjoyed a resounding 9-0 victory over Gosfield Lake GC to make Jubilee Cup progress.

The hosts showed their potential against a strong-looking Gosfield team by recording 4-up and 3-up victories, in the six singles matches.

The doubles matches were more closely-fought affairs, with all three being decided on the 18th green in a game held in a competitive spirit with a good atmosphere.

The victory sees Playgolf move top the division by two points after two victories, including a strong holes difference of plus 41.

Playgolf now host Woolston Manor, who currently sit in second place, in round three

Playgolf Colchester's Thornton Cup side suffered a heavy 11.5-3.5 home defeat against a much stronger Bishop's Stortford side.

The away side took all five points on offer in the morning's foursomes, with three of the matches needing all 18 holes to decide the outcome.

Playgolf Colchester restored some early pride with points on the board but with a mountain to climb, the damage was done and Stortford ran out clear and deserved winners.

Alex Crawford and Adrian Binns carded an awesome score of nett 56 to win the latest round of the 4-seasons cup.

Miguel Ruiz and Chris Highfield were runners-up with their nett 60, a point ahead of third-placed Bernie Keyes and John Frost.

Playgolf pair Trevor Barnett and Stephen Allen progressed to the fourth round of the Daily Mail Foursomes, after a 3&2 victory at Newton Green.

The seniors greensomes competition saw a large field compete, with Will Elder and Terry Skornia coming out on top with a score of 65.2.

David Needham and Robert Few were close with a score of 65.6, with Jeremy Dalton and senior captain Alan Cole in third (69.4).

All of Playgolf's 2015 competition winners keenly contested the All Winners Trophy, strokeplay format competition.

Lucy Sadler lifted the cup for the second successive year after recording a one under par nett score of 70.

Judith Peeling was runner-up, three shots adrift carding nett 73 with Ann Longman in third on countback from Kyung Cho after both players finished on nett 76.

Vice-captain Maureen Dale won the 36 Handicappers Cup, Stableford Format Trophy with 30 points.

Janet Blackmore beat Jennie Boyden to second place on countback, after both carded 28 points.
