FLITCH United have completed the second part of the hat-trick of honours they are chasing this season.

Having already stowed the Essex Junior Trophy safely away in their silverware cabinet, Flitch have now added the Mid-Essex League Division One Jewel Cup to their list after a penalty shoot-out success against Pro Athletic.

The division one title rivals met in the final at Witham Town's Village Glass Stadium.

League leaders Pro Athletic went ahead early in the first half, but Flitch equalised in the second half with a strike from Paul Layzell and applied pressure to try to force a win in normal time.

They went close when hitting the left-hand post and seeing the ball run along the goal-line before hitting the other post and coming out again, however, there was no breakthrough and the game went into extra-time and then penalties.

It was Flitch United who were celebrating at the end, though, as they won the shoot-out 4-2.

Having completed the double in cup competitions, they now have to face Pro Athletic again in a double-header on Saturday to see who will lift the division one crown.
