CHRISTOS Fantousi and Calum McKenzie teamed up to win Playgolf Colchester’s final Four Seasons Pairs Cup competition of the season.

The pair scored steadily in the Texas Scramble competition and carded a winning score of nett 63.8.

Mick Seaman and Adrian Binns would have been in the mix for first place had one of the pair made it over the river on the par-three 14th, in the blustery conditions.

They ended up a shot back with a creditable score of nett 64.8.

Nick Smith and David Gooding were third with a nett 65.0, ahead of fourth-placed pair Lee Kidger and Sam Durrant.

Brian Williams and Richard Frost were fifth, after both scored nett 66.2.

Results: division one: 1 Christos Fantousi and Calum McKenzie 63.8; 2 Mick Seaman and Adrian Binns 64.8; 3 Nick Smith and David Gooding 65.0.

A large field competed in the Seniors Poppy Appeal medal, in blustery weather.

Derek Manister (21) won the competition with his nett 67 to earn a shot handicap cut after registering five pars.

Geoffrey Tredgett (26) was runner-up on countback in a three-way tie for the last two podium spots.

Tredgett had a better back nine, including a trio of pars to complement his front nine birdie and other par.

That helped him finish second ahead of third-placed Paul Woods (16) – who had five pars and back-nine par-three birdie on the 16th – and Bernard Keyes (24), who was fourth.
