IT’S a busy night for Thurlow Nunn League sides as they begin their League Cup campaigns.

In the pick of the first-round ties, STANWAY ROVERS and BRANTHAM ATHLETIC will do battle at The Hawthorns.

Both will be looking to bounce back from 3-1 defeats on Saturday.

Rovers went down at fast-improving Haverhill Rovers, while Walsham-le-Willows climbed out of the premier division relegation places after beating the Imps.

“I’m hoping (player and joint-assistant manager) Danny Slatter will be fit to play some part, after being out with a lengthy injury,” said Rovers boss Angelo Harrop.

Brantham counterpart Paul Skingley said: “We know it’ll be a very tough game but, from our point of view, it’s all about finding a level of consistency.

“If we play to our potential, we’ve got a chance in every game.

“If we don’t, we’ll come unstuck.”

Elsewhere, FC CLACTON face a trip to third-placed Felixstowe & Walton.

The Seasiders will travel in confident mood, having moved up to sixth in the premier division courtesy of Saturday’s 3-1 victory against Fakenham.

Boss David Coyle plans to shuffle his pack and has confirmed that there will be a starting spot for young midfielder Jordan Brazitis.

“Jordan hasn’t done a great deal wrong, but those in the team haven’t done enough not to play,” he said.

“This is a perfect opportunity to change things round a little and give someone like him an opportunity to play.

“It’s about keeping people fresh and there will be a few changes.

“We want to keep people motivated but we also want to keep them in form.

“I hope those players take their chance, because I want them to do well and want to win every game. I trust them all.”

Coyle will have to check on the fitness of Chris Ribchester and his brother, Clacton midfielder Kevin.

Both hobbled away from the action on Saturday.
