Shamido Pedulu may only have been back at Witham Town for a week, but he has seen enough to know they are capable of being much higher than they are in the Ryman League division north table.

The pacey striker has returned to the Village Glass Stadium after a season with Heybridge Swifts and played in Town’s 4-2 FA Trophy defeat by Herne Bay last weekend.

They return to Ryman League action with a game at Waltham Abbey today as they look to lift themselves out of the bottom three.

And Pedulu feels he and his team-mates should be aiming for a top-ten finish this year despite a sketchy start to the campaign that has seen Witham win just once in the league so far.

“Going forward, we look sharp,” he said.

“We have pace out wide and up top and when we’re attacking we look good.

“It’s just in defending that we need to focus as a team.

“We will work on it, though, and come back strongly.

“I think we’re going to be looking up the league and we’re working hard to be a top-ten team.

“We’re trying to push on as I definitely see us as a top-ten side.

“I’ve seen enough Ryman League sides now to know that and once we start winning games, we’ll be flying.

“We just need to work hard in certain places but I think we’ll do well and can bounce back from the FA Trophy defeat.

“It was my first game back, but I think the team is alright.

“Everyone wanted to win in the Trophy, but we will bounce back in the league now.”
