Braintree Town manager Danny Cowley was quick to hail the work-rate of his players as they overturned the odds on paper to continue their fantastic run on the road this season.

The Iron’s 2-0 win at the Silverlake Stadium, which came thanks to a Kenny Davis penalty and a Michael Cheek strike, means they are unbeaten in their last six Vanarama National League away games.

It is a run that has brought them 16 points from a possible 18 and Cowley was impressed at another hard-working performance against one of the division’s big-spending clubs.

He said: “It’s been a good return on the road and I think that’s down to hard work.

“The boys were excellent at Eastleigh and we had a really good control in the game.

“We came in at half-time one-nil up and were disappointed that we hadn’t got a second because of all the control we had had in the match.

“Getting the second is always crucial for us as we’ve been critical of ourselves in not getting it, so that was good.

“I was a bit disappointed after that as I felt we came off it a bit, but this is a great result.

“Eastleigh have had success on success in recent years, they are well-financed and have got some fantastic players.

“You can’t compete with Eastleigh Football Club on paper, but it’s lucky that it’s not played on paper.

“I thought our lads were excellent and we have some good players at our club.

“There are a lot of boys on the way up.”
