Garry Kimble is hoping Witham Town’s coffers can be helped with another knockout competition run – this time in the FA Trophy.

Kent-based Ryman League division south side Herne Bay will be the visitors to the Village Glass Stadium on Saturday and Kimble would like to see his team pick up some more valuable prize money.

They have already been boosted by a couple of FA Cup wins so far this season and with more prize money available for Trophy progression, Kimble would love to see another run started by a good performance this weekend.

He said: “Every cup game is important and especially the FA Cup and the Trophy as there is big prize money that you can pick up.

“We’ve got a bit from the FA Cup and there were 571 people at King’s Lynn on Saturday so we will get half of the gate money from that and maybe I’ll see a bit of it to help my budget.

“But if we can also make it through a couple of rounds of the Trophy then that would be nice as it could be important to the club.

“We are at home and you’d always rather that than be away, but we know it will be a tough game.

“I know they are doing quite well in their league and that they’ll probably be a big strong team as Kent sides tend to be that way, but we’ll be looking to make progress.

Kimble said he was hoping to bring in some new players this week and hoped that they would be available for the Trophy game against Herne Bay.

He added: “I am looking to get a couple more players and hopefully they will be with us for the Trophy game, however, it could mean others having to leave.”
