Cressing stayed top of the overall Braintree Open Darts League standings with a dominant display against Braintree Football Club.

A 2-1 pairs victory was followed by triples success and wins in the opening four singles for Cressing as they stayed two points clear of the Swan at the top of the standings.

Swan kept the pressure on with a win at the Eagle A.

The hosts were chasing the match after the Swan won the pairs 3-0 and the triples before singles triumphs for Dan Lynn and Dave Kelly gave them the overall match win.

The Eagle did pull two wins back in the next two singles, but 2-0 wins for Rob Turner and Leon Griffiths saw the Swan take those points as well.

There was little better fortune for the Eagle B against Retreat, who are third in the overall standings.

The triples was drawn and honours were even in the first four singles, but a 2-1 pairs win and victories for Dave Benfield, Alex Camp and Dave Saunders meant the Retreat took the singles 5-2 and the overall match 8-4.

Welsh Princess went down 2-1 in the pairs against Bocking, before bouncing back with a win in the triples, while singles wins for the Welsh’s Alan Dewar, Andi Thomas and Phil Hume were balanced by Bocking wins for Dave Joyce, Phil Watkins and Taylor Barnard.

That meant the singles and match result came down to the final game of the night and a 2-0 win for Bruce Mawdsley against Colin Barnard gave the Welsh both honours.

Notley Sports started well at Legends with a 3-0 success but they were pegged back in the triples by the hosts.

Two wins apiece followed in the opening four singles, but with Tony Tatum and Chris Holden winning their games, Legends had the singles won, before Notley’s Dave Islip finished with a 2-0 win against Arron Holden to force a match draw.

Tony Bamsey, Nicky Mynard, Rob Turner, Kieran Notley, Graham Chinnery and Stewart Wicks all hit 180s, while high shot outs were recorded by Rhys Hayden (134), Bryan Willis (122), Tony Tatum (102) and Bruce Mawdsley (93).
