THE last race was held in this year’s Great Bentley Micky Edwards 5km series.

The final results are yet to be confirmed, but, as things stand, Peter Reeve is leading the way with 152 points.

Graham Clarke has 139 and Jenny Aylen 138.

The Brantham five-mile race, organised by Felixstowe Road Runners, was held and those taking part for Bentley were Aylen, Reeve, Gary Hill, Rachael Giles, Lesley Fuller, Karen Skene, Debs Cubberley and Linzi Iddon.

Aylen, Hill, Giles and Reeve each gained new personal bests (PBs), with Giles achieving a bronze standard for her age group.

Joe Alexander took part in the Harwich Olympic Triathlon.

He was beaten into second place and seven minutes and 35 seconds separated him and winner Matt Lawes, from Cambridge Tri Club.

The Colchester Parkrun took a detour this weekend and took place at Colchester Rugby Club.

Ten Bentley seniors pitched up and Chris Warren was first home for the club and ninth overall with a PB of 18m 49s.

Others in action were David Wright, Mike Belton, Phil Presland, Meera Rajoo Oakley, Paul Hollidge, Malcolm Jarvis and Shawn Leek.

Both Katie Presland (24m 14s) and Anthea Colesall (24m 16s) were first-timers to this weekly event.

Lee Clarkson (24m 40s) and Chusa Bautista (26m 49s) took on the 5km run at Brentwood.

Meanwhile, Chiptiming UK published a full set of results for the previous week’s Ekiden Relay.

Bentley fielded ten teams in total over five categories.

In the men’s open, their first team came 20th out of 25 teams.

In the ladies’ open, their seventh team came ninth, their ninth team were 11th, their sixth team came 15th and their eighth team were 16th out of 17 teams.

Sixteen teams were in the men’s vet 40-49 category and Bentley’s second team came 15th.

The men’s SV 50+ event saw Bentley’s fourth team came sixth, out of 12.

Three Bentley teams were in the mixed category, with 63 teams taking part, and their third team finished in 56th place.

Their tenth team were 38th.

Bentley’s fifth team, consisting of Alexander, Ben Ficken, Russ Sharp, Katie Ireland, Clive Thomas and Sam Godden, finished in 2h 44m 49s.

This saw them complete the marathon distance at an average pace of 6.26 miles per minute and place sixth overall.
