AFTER an eight-year absence from competitive racing, Fingringhoe’s Phil Seton made his return in style with a podium finish at the the Hottrax Six-Hour Endurance race at Snetterton.

Competing as part of a three-man team alongside Mark Clark and Andy Goddard at the Norfolk circuit, Seton proved his mettle through a tough and challenging race.

The trio qualified second in the ACU/Towergate National 1000cc class, with Seton taking the first stint on the Seton Tuning Yamaha R1.

He handed over to Clark after retaining second spot, however, gearing and then exhaust problems in the following two stints meant they dropped down the field before clawing their way back with some personal best times.

They were in fifth spot with less than a hour to go when Seton took the final stint and within 12 minutes had put them back to third in their class, which was where they finished after an eventful six hours of racing.

That also represented a fourth place across all classes in the overall standings.

Seton said: “What a stellar effort the whole team has put in over the past few weeks.

“It’s not just the efforts of the riders on-track, the whole team, including mechanics and background crew, have pulled it out the bag.

“It’s great to reward them all with a podium place in our comeback to competitive racing.

“I can’t thank all of our sponsors and supporters enough, without each and every one of them this wouldn’t be possible.”

The next round of the Hottrax ACU/Towergate National 1000 Endurance Championship is at Oulton Park on June 12 when Seton Tuning Yamaha will field a two-man team for the three-hour race.
