It was another busy weekend at Playgolf Colchester with dual competitions running on Saturday and a Jubilee Cup club match on Sunday.

Ray Rowley (26) topped the leaderboard in the All Winners cup competition. With a field compiled of the previous years winners, competition was fierce.

Rowley won with a two-under par 68. His card highlights came with four pars and a birdie on the par four seventh.

Roger Giles (21) carded an impressive pair of par-four birdies to take second place on countback with a better back nine from Mathew Clark (19), after both carded nett 70.

Stephen Allen carded 41 points to win the also-rans competition.

Christos Fantousi was pushed into second place with 40 points, with Chitraj Limbu third on 38.

The Jubilee Cup squad played their second round match at home verses Stoke by Nayland.

The home advantage showed early on in the singles matches as Bruce Critchley (1 up) Matthew Barnett (3&2) and Matthew Gladman (2&1) all won their matches.

Phil Reeve battled hard to take a half-point, giving Playgolf a slim advantage with the scores at 3½-2½ with the doubles matches remaining. The Playgolf doubles teams put in another strong showing with comprehensive wins in all three matches.

Dean Rainbird and Brian Williams won 4&3, Matt Clark and Harry Yearling won 3&2 and Scott Wyatt and Nathan Soton won 4&3.

Playgolf play Loughton at home in round three of the league stage.

The Senior Stapleford was a keenly-contested affair with both divisions being decided on the final hole.

Trevor Cocksedge won division one with 38 points. Alan Cole was second, on countback, edging Don Miller out after both carded 37.

Geoff Tredgett had four pars to win division two with 38 points. He finished a point clear of David Palmer on 37, with Ken Ellsmore a further point back in third.

The ladies battled it out for the All Winners Trophy and the 36 Handicappers’ Trophy. The All Winners Trophy was set to a strokeplay format and was keenly contested.

It was a tight finish, but Lucy Sadler equaled the CSS with a nett 73 to take victory by a shot over Roz Cole (nett 74).

Pauline Coxon was a further shot back in third on nett 75.

Meanwhile, the 36 Handicappers were fighting it out for their own Stableford Format Trophy.

This produced a runaway victory for Lynne Southgate who recorded 34 points, finishing six points ahead of her nearest rivals, Maureen Dale and Shirley Birkin.

Dale snatched the runner-up spot on countback from Birkin.

Playgolf's Daily Mail Foursomes matchplay pairing of Nicky Withycombe and Ann Longman played their third round match, away at Colchester.

The pair roared to victory, securing a place in the draw for the fourth round with a great 3&2 win over Colchester’s pairing of Jenny Mitchell and Nikki Bryant.
