Braintree Boxing Club were celebrating their fourth win in two weeks when Tyler Harvey fought exceptionally well at a show in Laindon.

Harvey was matched against local boxer Jamie Short of Berry ABC and in a difficult first round, Harvey struggled to find momentum against the technical movement of his opponent, who used an effective southpaw jab to keep the Braintree fighter at bay.

Short managed to beat Harvey to the punch during the opening stanza, but following instructions from his corner and realising that he was narrowly behind on points, the Braintree boxer increased the pace from the beginning of the second.

He landed some excellent jabs of his own in addition to two excellent straight right hands and with the bout even entering the final round, Harvey showed grit and determination by increasing the pace and continually forcing Short on to his back foot and up against the ropes.

The majority of the round consisted of Harvey dominating his opponent by landing some thudding body shots that weakened Short and gave him the upper hand.

At the final bell, Harvey was awarded the decision by a unanimous points verdict that had the crowd applauding in approval.
