Brad King said there will are likely to be changes to Witham Town’s side when they face AFC Sudbury in the third round of the Robert Dyas League Cup at the Village Glass Stadium tonight.

But there will be no weakening of their line-up as they return to action after two postponed fixtures.

The weather has scuppered Witham’s hopes of playing the League Cup fixture on both of the previous Tuesdays, while their Ryman League premier division game at Billericay Town was called-off on Saturday because of a waterloged pitch.

And King admits having games off does little to help players maintain match sharpness.

He said: “It is a worry and we try to keep the boys ticking over, but they need regular games to keep their sharpness.

“Luke Callander for example, is back from his hamstring problem and he’s had a couple of extra weeks to get over it, but we wanted him back playing two weeks ago, not now.

“There will be a few rested tonight who have been playing more than others, but that doesn’t mean we’ll weaken the team.

“It’s not as if we have 12 or 13 players who are our strongest and the rest are making up the numbers.

“All our squad are good enough to play in any game, but we will look to mix it up a bit.”
